I have been marketing online for a few years now

and I am constantly asked by my students and folks investigating different income-generating opportunities what the best internet business is.

My reply is always the same, "The program doesn't matter; your ability to market does. Now is this completely accurate? No, not completely.

Programs are not all alike and to compare one business model to another is like comparing apples to oranges.

An affiliate program requires different skills than does a network marketing program and whether you make money with either one comes down to how well you are able to do a few things like locating a targeted audience, driving those qualified visitors to a website, and converting a percentage of those visitors into customers or team members.

Ultimately, it's about whether or not you can effectively market your product, service, or opportunity.

Let's be honest here, if you don't know how to drive traffic and convert it, you are out of business right now.

With that said, when it comes to programs, for my money the best internet business opportunity out there is a network marketing business. Network marketing? Oh yeah, let me explain.

HOW TO BUILD THE BEST INTERNET BUSINESS

Now I know that for many people, just the mention of network marketing will send chills up your spine, for others, it immediately revives memories of front loading and auto-ships from hell, not a pretty picture.

So while many frustrated, would-be business owners are holding down your lunch, let me explain why network marketing, or the business model anyway, is the best internet business model to work with.

First, let's get one thing straight, if you have failed in your previous attempts to build a network marketing organization, it is most likely not your fault.

Up until a few years ago, the MLM industry taught its members to build their organizations utilizing typical sales methods.

That traditional companies had used forever - and still do - to generate leads and to contact those prospects and "sell" to them and most people, about 70% of the population of North America do not wish to be sold to or to sell something to anyone else.

We have all heard the old make a list of your friends and family. Just the thought of talking to my long-lost 2nd grade "best friend" to get him into my brand spanking new business opportunity makes me cringe! Yet, we do need to sell.

So how do we get around the fact that most of us cannot sell or at the very least don't want to feel like we are selling something to someone?

Creating systems is where the network marketing business starts to look so good. Let's go back to the affiliate marketing opportunity.

Let me clear the air here and tell you that there is nothing wrong whatsoever with affiliate marketing, I know a lot of people who are very successful with this type of business, but it's harder to succeed with affiliate marketing than it is with network marketing.

Huh? Yep, you heard
If I have to learn how to drive traffic online, then doesn't it make sense that I send that traffic somewhere where I am able to get the "biggest bang for my buck? With an affiliate or referral program, I have to send people to a site or capture a page over and over and over and over.

It never stops. I need to convert twenty or thirty people a week to generate an income I can live on and if I'm converting twenty or thirty a week that means I must be driving hundreds a week to a capture page or my website.

With a network marketing business, if I convert thirty targeted prospects over a career, I can become wealthy.

We can also set up systems online to which we can drive our targeted traffic and allow these systems to "sell" our opportunity or products to people who are already looking for them.

Finally, network marketing will be able to keep its promise that the average man or woman can succeed with this model.

Finally, when it comes to training have you figured out yet why it can be very expensive to learn how to market online? Have you figured out why marketers will give you "some" training but seem to hold some pertinent information back? It has to do with competition.

If I teach you everything I possibly know about marketing online then I'd better make sure you are not in the same field as I am or that you are in my network marketing organization.

Otherwise, teaching you how to market online is detrimental to my own marketing efforts because I have simply created my own competition and unless you are in my down-line, why would I ever do that?

If you are in my organization, my down-line, then yes, I am going to teach you everything I know about marketing my business online and hope that you become more proficient than myself.

The reasons that I have outlined above, lead generation, lead conversions, marketing, and training are why I still think that the network marketing business is the best internet business around.

While it is not easy to build an MLM organization, it's no more difficult than driving hundreds a week to an affiliate program or some online store.

The main difference and this may be the biggest factor in determining the best internet business, is the built-in "residual" component of a network marketing program, which is another reason to get involved in MLM in the first place.
